Controversy has hit our window display competition and it is serious. Annie did a (it has to be said) very cool window display featuring the Vibram Five Fingers, designed to get people outdoors and doing wonderful outdoorsy things.

The scandal arose when she posted it on our Facebook page before it had been put onto the blog.

A hastily convened meeting with those in control of this extremely serious competition (ie me) ruled that she was within her rights and actually very clever to think to do it. Here’s the photos. What do you guys think?

And also in Annie’s favour was that her window display also had a short season as we had to put up our sale window. Sorry Annie!

Now I know, I know, they look weird but Vibram Five fingers are really, really moving.

According to Nina who knows all about such things, FiveFingers are a bit of an internet fad at the moment. Judging by the different ways that customers are thinking of to use them though, I have a feeling that there is a lot more to it than that.

The basic idea is that the Vibram Five Fingers allow you to use the natural movement of your foot while still protecting the soul.

Because of this, we have had lots of customers coming in to buy them for running in. Other customers are buying them for watersports, or orienteering.

There can be an argument made that traditional shoes can work counter to the way our foot was designed to work.

Here is a really interesting youtube video that talks explain how this works really well. It is called the Barefoot Professor

Makes a lot of sense to me.

Some customers aren’t sure how to put them on but don’t be nervous. The guys in the store can show how and it is much easier than you’d think.
