Children of the Revolution

Today’s random giveaway is Earth Shoes. Size 10 left and size 11 right

These are cool and we’d love them to go to a happy home. It is a pair of Earth Interact in Peanut. Yep – you guessed it – whacky sizes again. Size 10 left and 11 right. No, I can’t really explain how we came to have a pair of odd sizes but sometimes life’s like that… Contact us via Twitter, Facebook, the blog or email.

As lots of our customers already know, Earth shoes are innovative. Here’s what they have to say on their website: Continued…

Here’s what Children of the Revolution is all about

This video of Sally explains why she started the store and what it is all about. Apologies for her talking on the phone – it was actually during a staff training session and our skype wasn’t working. She was on the phone to our Sydney store but also talking to all the Brisbane staff as well. Talk about a “behind the scenes” insight.

This is really only for those heavy duty “revolutioners” but it explains our philosophy and why it is so important to get your shoes right.

Maybe this is too heavy a philosophy for a humble shoe shop but in our defence we can be really vacuous as well!

So here’s some things about the feet that we bet you didn’t know

According to a lovely book by Chris Stormer called the Language of the Feet (what feet can tell you) feet have an amazing story to tell.

Here’s what she says:

A firm foothold from which to grow and develop!

The incredibly designed feet support the massive bodily weight, even though only a relatively small area is in contact with the ground. Despite the thickness of the soles, an incredible amount of vibrancy is transferred from the ground, through the feet, to intermingle with ethereal energies absorbed into the body from the atmosphere. During health this absorption is powerful, forcefully reinforcing and strengthening the whole. Continued…

Okay – you asked for it – back to shoe stuff (and posture and health and wellbeing)

Camper SandalsThanks so much to everyone who has responded on both our blog and facebook pages. (Yeah, yeah, I know at least some people responded to enter the competition for free shoes but the responses were both passionate and genuine. On that note, everyone who who is eligible so far has gone into the draw so keep your fingers crossed.)

Reflexology

In the interest of exploring all things foot oriented, I have been doing some research on reflexology

Here is what wikepedia has to say about it

Reflexology (zone therapy) is an alternative medicine method involving the practice of massaging or applying pressure to parts of the feet, or sometimes the hands and ears, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health.[citation needed]

The Reflexology Association of Canada defines reflexology as: A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body.
