Finally – it’s time to find out who you thought did the best window display

So – we got a bit distracted by the sale but now we really, really want to hear from you. If you remember all our staff got a chance to do their very best window display and we need you to tell us which one you like the most.

The prize for the winner is big. Really big.

The winner as judged by you gets a half day off work and 2 tickets to the movie of their choice to go and watch. Pretty cool hey?!

So just to remind everyone, here’s  a rundown of who did what.

First off there was Nina’s display – “puzzled?”

Then there was Hannah’s display titled “Relive your childhood fantasies”

Then came mine which was “Don’t wait until you get old to wear purple shoes”

And then finally… Annie’s which was  ”Feel the earth with Five Fingers”

So now it’s time for you to vote… Over to you.

Who do you think should win our hotly contested staff window display competition?

So here’s some things about the feet that we bet you didn’t know

According to a lovely book by Chris Stormer called the Language of the Feet (what feet can tell you) feet have an amazing story to tell.

Here’s what she says:

A firm foothold from which to grow and develop!

The incredibly designed feet support the massive bodily weight, even though only a relatively small area is in contact with the ground. Despite the thickness of the soles, an incredible amount of vibrancy is transferred from the ground, through the feet, to intermingle with ethereal energies absorbed into the body from the atmosphere. During health this absorption is powerful, forcefully reinforcing and strengthening the whole. Continued…

All about Reiker

For some reason, this week, I’ve had lots of people ask me about Reiker – where do they come from? Are they good quality? The answers are; originally Germany and yes, they are great quality. (I bought myself a pair of Reiker boots at the start of the season and am hoping winter will hang around for a while just so I can keep wearing them).

Here’s why they are so comfy:

And here’s the history. Continued…

World’s oldest shoe found in Armenia

According to the BBC world service, the worlds oldest shoe has been found in a cave in Armenia.

Here’s a photo. Beautiful ain’t it? Apparently it is the equivalent to a women’s size 37. Imagine if the person who made this so many years ago knew what they’d started…….

Mind, body and sole…..

Our last joint promotion with Dogstar and Perfect Potion proved so popular that we’re doing it again. This time we’ve joined forces with our friends at the American Bookstore and Biome Eco Stores to give one lucky customer a fabulous day out in Brisbane. And once again, you are in the draw just by being on our email list. (If you want bonus entries go to our facebook page or blog and tell us what you do to look after your body, mind and soul – each comment is good for a free entry into the competition.)

This time we are offering an awesome day out that will soothe your mind, body and (aherm) sole. Continued…

How high is too high?

Finally, a sensible article in a fashion magazine about this crazy trend of wearing sky high shoes.

An article in Harper’s Bazaar quotes Paola Bay, a shoe designer as believing that some fashion heels have reached dangerous new heights.

Here’s part of it…

Hospitals, podiatrists, health insurers and designers.. I am sure they all made a  deal. The economy is down, but they have found a way to still make money, ensuring sure that we girls need help by introducing super-dizzy heels. The definition of the iconic high heel is being reinterpreted to include 15 centimetre skyscraper stilettos.

If you buy this crazy footwear, make sure you have someone to keep you standing balanced at all times. You need a strong man to look after you and keep you upright as Mrs Beckham did with her such-a-nice husband while wearing Berardi’s vertiginous boots at the launch of the couple’s latest fragrance in New York in late 2008. For those who haven’t seen them, Antonio Berardi has designed a boot without heels – the designer suggests walking on tiptoe.

Now, I know this is the crazy world of fashion but I’m not sure it isn’t relevant to us everyday people. So many people come into the store and have a look of utter bliss and astonishment when they realise that the sexy red shoes they fell in love with in the window are actually comfortable and you can actually…wait for it…walk in them.

Crazy huh?

Do we have any shoes that can take orthodics?

You bet. This is one of the most common questions we get asked and the answer is a resounding yes.

And the good news is they don’t look like they belong to look like someone’s Nana either. The entire range of flat Naots have removable sole units, as do the Aetrex and Keen. And that’s just for starters. Our very beautiful El Naturalistas also have soles that can be removed (even if you don’t need orthodics that can be great for keeping them clean and odor free).

Our shoes are chosen because they are designed to help support feet and bodies the way they need to be supported.

Annie’s window – but was it cheating?

Controversy has hit our window display competition and it is serious. Annie did a (it has to be said) very cool window display featuring the Vibram Five Fingers, designed to get people outdoors and doing wonderful outdoorsy things.

The scandal arose when she posted it on our Facebook page before it had been put onto the blog.

A hastily convened meeting with those in control of this extremely serious competition (ie me)  ruled that  she was within her rights and actually very clever to think to do it. Here’s the photos. What do you guys think?

And  also in Annie’s favour was that her window display also had a short season as we had to put up our sale window. Sorry Annie!

Entrant Number three in our window competition

Hannah’s gorgeous window display featured gazillions of red shoes (I had no idea we had so many) and the message “Live your Childhood Fantasy.”

It was extremely popular with everyone and inspired lots of customers to try on red shoes which as far as I can see can never be a bad thing.

We’ve had a few questions about how you guys are going to be able to vote via the internet and the answer is I don’t really know yet. But Jaymis our marvellous technical web guru says it’s easy and I believe him.
