Contemporary dance and live jazz collide spectacularly in this anticipated new full-length work by critically acclaimed Australian
choreographer Natalie Weir.Inspired by a book, by the same title, of contemporary photography authored by Peta Neylan and edited by Naomi Mendoza, the production While Others Sleep explores interior late-night worlds, where hidden identities and complex dualities are let free.
Weir creates three vignettes of intensely physical and highly emotional contemporary dance underscored by seductive live jazz by popular Brisbane trio Misinterprotato. Set in cabaret mode, this is contemporary dance at its sharpest – flirtatious, salacious and utterly
bewitching.While Others Sleep is a major production by Expressions Dance Company, Judith Wright Centre and Misinterprotato. The performance marks a significant milestone in the history of Expressions Dance Company and Judith Wright Centre, who are collaborating for the very first time.
