Children of the Revolution

“If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll end up somewhere else”

The new year is nearly upon us. 2010. What will it mean for you?

Today, I’d like to share something I found in a book called “Imagine That!” by someone called Lane Longino Waas Ph.D.

It’s nearly 20 years old but somethings really are timeless (and despite what the Target ads say, that does not include the Maxi dress).

We are nothing if not broad minded here at Children of the Revolution and quite frankly, we’ll blog about anything to do with health and wellbeing.

And if, you are already feeling calm, rested, zen and at one with the world, don’t stress. Just skip this blog. We’ll resume our normal programming and information about all things footwear with the next blog.

Here goes:

Some of you have told me that you find it difficult to relax. So, let’s begin this exercise not by trying to relax, but just letting our bodies relax. Begin by getting comfortable…and breathing. Easy enough?

Just be comfortable…and breathe naturally..noticing your comfort …and noticing your breath. It goes in and it comes out. In…and out….in and …out. Just breathe for a little longer..in and out….

Next relax your feet. Wiggle your feet around a little bit and turn them loose. Just turn them completely loose. And your ankles…roll them around…and then relax them…your calves…tense them. And then relax them. Your knees. Move them just a little bit. And then let them go. Relax them completely. Notice how your legs feel…is there any tension remaining there? Let it go. Give your legs complete permission to relax. Your thighs and buttocks…tighten your muscles a little bit then relax them. Your lower back, do the same.. Tense it a little bit … then relax it.

Many people hold a lot of tension in their upper back and shoulders. Move yours around  and let them go. Know that the mat and the floor will support you. Completely relax.

Notice your neck. Roll your head around. Let go of all the soreness and tension.

Spend a minute here. Don’t worry you won’t miss anything. A minute isn’t long.

I love the title of this blog as it is so very true. And I think it is a great statement to base my 2010 resolution on. I aim to be heading in a healthy direction and as such am making plans to arrive there in 2010! Happy New Year to all! Danielle

This is the first time I’ve looked at your website and blog and will definitely being tuning in again very soon. Thanks for the wonderful techniques for relaxing. I will endeavour to remember those techniques for the whole year and spread the good news to my circle of friends. Wishing you all the year you desire.

Thanks for the great reeeeelaxxxx tips – I had the great good fortune to go diving and snorkelling last week and as a result have been much more aware of my breathing. I am going to try and keep it at the front of my mind from now on, rather than at the back of it….all the best for the new year!
